Twitter Gets Down to Business

Hires Business Development Guru

Twitter has announced that it hired Kevin Thau as Director of Mobile Business Development last month, and that even though "mobile" is part of his title, he'll be working on a variety of different fronts as Twitter's "first official business development guru."

"For now, Kevin is assessing all opportunities, picking up ongoing threads, and also actively working on our mobile business strategy," writes Twitter Co-founder Biz Stone on the Twitter Blog. "If you send email to our partner address or to kevin (at) twitter.com then you will be corresponding with the intrepid Mr. Thau."

Thau has worked at Buzzwire and Openwave in the past where he worked with mobile carriers, device manufacturers, and content providers. You can view his tweets here. I am assuming he is about to get a lot more followers.

Stone also notes that Twitter has more job openings for positions like Business Product Manager and Director of Strategic Partnerships. Other spots are available for designers, software engineers, and more.

You've got to wonder what kind of partnerships the Twitter guys are thinking about. The site has often been criticized for its lack of a revenue strategy, but that all might change in the near future.

You know what Twitter needs?

You know what Twitter needs? A speech-to-text technology where people talk on their mobile phones and it gets translatted to text instead of people slowly typing it.

Well, I've only recently

Well, I've only recently started to try and market my website as this is a completely new venture for me. I'm not sure I still really understand the meaning of twitter to be honest, but from the feedback I have read on it so far it seems to be a substantial means to improve your web traffic if used correctly. I'm going to give it a shot anyway and shall let you know how I get on!
