Yahoo Real Estate Unveils New Search Experience

Speed, photo size tended to

Pity the poor person who's trying to sell a house in this market; with prices diving and places available on almost every street, they probably won't get a great deal.  But an updated Yahoo Real Estate aims to make sure sales at least occur, and it might become a buyer's dream.

First, consider the issue of time.  Even before the crash, real estate searches required a lot of it; a hunt might turn up hundreds of results, and then you'd frequently want to click on the listings so as not to let a tiny picture make you miss your dream home.

Yahoo Real Estate
 Nice Looking, Not Entirely Accurate

A post on Yodel Anecdotal describes the new Yahoo Real Estate search experience by saying, "[O]ur pages now load twice as fast and our photos are now four times bigger.  And as you refine your search parameters (price, number of bedrooms, etc.), the listing results update automatically."

As for those times when you're left wondering about houses' details, the post continues, "We also enabled our listing partners to provide much richer home specs, and you'll find deeper neighborhood information and recommendations for comparable listing."

The service isn't perfect in its current form - even in a sample picture provided by Yahoo, its lists the square footage of two structures as zero.  But with more features on the way (think photos, videos, and social stuff), Yahoo Real Estate will bear keeping an eye on.
