Google > all eventually...
They aren't YouTube and Paris-based Dailymotion says it's happy with being independent. 37 million unique global visitors cemented its status as the top independent video site, and the site continues to grow in the US.
In May 2008, Dailymotion saw 5.7 million US visitors pull in 146 million page views. Though their traffic isn't on the same scale as a YouTube or other massive media-owned content property, the numbers reflect 18 percent growth in visitors month over month per comScore data.
They stream over 860 million videos per month to visitors, and it isn't all user-generated content. Dailymotion has a variety of deals with the likes of Viacom and Universal Music Group, both of which have had their share of run-ins with other video sites.
That's something Dailymotion claims it doesn't fear, thanks to what it calls an "aggressive stance on copyright protection." Perhaps the Paris-based company could teach Google a thing or to about the subject, as Google struggles with video revenue generation, and Viacom's billion-dollar lawsuit.
