HBO To Offer Shows On iTunes

Includes The Sopranos and Sex in the City

HBO has reached a deal with Apple to offer half a dozen of its shows on iTunes.

Programs that will be available from HBO on iTunes include "The Sopranos," "Sex and the City," "Deadwood," "Rome," "Flight of the Conchords" and "The Wire."

Half of the shows will be priced at $1.99, including "Sex and the City," "The Wire," and "Flight of the Conchords." "The Sopranos," "Deadwood," and "Rome" will be available for $2.99 per episode. Complete seasons are also available for purchase.

Initially HBO will not offer all of its content on iTunes. HBO will do a "rolled out release" of it's programming and over time more content will be available on iTunes.

Recently Apple's iTunes began offering DVDs on the same day they were released. Previously customers had to wait several weeks for a new DVD release. New releases from studios, including Paramount Pictures and Warner Brothers will be priced at $14.99.

Other new titles will be available from Twentieth Century Fox, Walt Disney Co., Universal Studios Home Entertainment, Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc., and Lions Gate Entertainment Corp.

Apple is pleased with its new offerings from Time Warner's HBO. "We're thrilled to bring this incredible lineup of programming from HBO to the iTunes Store," said Eddy Cue, Apple's vice president of iTunes. "These are some of the most talked about television shows ever, as well as some of the most requested by our customers."
