Alaska, Nevada, and Delaware are in great shape.  The news isn't good for the U.S. as a whole, though, as The Conference Board has recorded an annual decline in online advertised job vacancies.

Between March of 2007 and March of 2008, there was a drop of 0.6 percent in the number of jobs advertised online, according to the firm.  The Conference Board calls this the first year-over-year decline since (at least) May of 2005, which is when it started tracking the relevant figures.

A once-every-three-years dip isn't too ominous, of course, but it seems like the trend extends in both directions beyond that.  Gad Levanon, who holds the title of "Economist at The Conference Board," stated, "It would not be surprising to see a third straight month of job losses when employment data are released later this week as well as continued weakness in the months ahead."

Also, "The weak demand for labor and a soft employment market help explain the significant decline in the Consumer Confidence Index released last week, which dropped to 64.5, its lowest level since 2003."

Arkansas, Indiana, and Kentucky seem to be in the worst shape, in case you're wondering.
