I knew it I knew it I knew it! As soon as I saw the title on the front page with supbtitle "Everybody Run!" I said to myself, that's gotta be my old boy Jason! Since the prostitute vs Spitzer article his ratings are going up. Webpronews, give him a raise for god sake... Jason strikes again!
Beware of anything you read tomorrow, or today, for that matter, lest you forget there are Aussies about in different time zones. Just remember, nobody in their right mind launches something new on April 1.
But sometimes it's super tempting, especially when it could definitely happen. ProBlogger Darren Rowse, your link bait is a success, and the evil genius of the premise is destined to doom us all—if by "all," I mean Twitter fans.
And I do mean that.
Rowse issued a (ready the air-quotes) "press release" about ProBlogger launching a new program called PayPerTweet.
Gasp! The horror. Everybody scatter.
It was just last week our publisher called on everybody to be honest about the microblogging platform, about how it seemed destined (indeed already on its way) to be abused by marketers.
Recently, my own inbox has been more active than usual in the follow notifications – which, if from strangers, read more like "I'm watching you, boy"—and some of them have been from organizations, not individuals. It has made me ponder the inevitability of Twitterspam.
And now this, just to rouse our suspicions further, the conspiracy mind always at work. Rowse invites those looking to make money from home (perhaps those who are tired of stuffing envelopes) to participate in a program that pays based on CPMF (cost per thousand followers).
Sigh.
Thing is, this could happen. And probably will happen. One man's sacred ground is another man's shopping mall.
