SES New York: Successful Tactics for Social Media Optimization
Using video, Twitter and Flickr effectively
At the SES New York session "Successful Tactics for Social Media Optimization" Liana Evans, Director of Internet Marketing, KeyRelevance spoke about video sharing and reviewing sites.
SES New York is here again, and WebProNews is there to bring you reports and videos from the Big Apple. Enjoy our coverage this week.
By using video you create more opportunities in SERPS and you create engagement opportunities along with driving traffic to your site and getting links to your site. All this can help to create a buzz.
What matters with video sharing are ratings, comments, title of the video, social media profiles, images, keywords used and links to your video.
With social ratings and reviews, people respect honest reviews and good reviews are great and have an impact. Bad reviews have a worse impact but don't be afraid of negative reviews because it's going to happen.
Jennifer Laycock, Editor-in-Chief, Search Engine Guide spoke about Flickr and Twitter. Flickr is a great way to reach an audience and Yahoo heavily weighs Flickr images.
Look beyond just pictures, because people are passionate about them, and they like to discuss them. Join the conversation offer tips and advice.
Reasons to love Flickr include: email pics from your phone
-join, create topics, make your own community
-publish from Flickr to blogs
-great privacy options for people using it for business and personal
-rss feeds
-subscribe to comments on your pictures
Twitter is a good practical application, especially in terms of business. You can follow friend's friends and move into the conversation, without it being considered eavesdropping. It expands the network of people you talk to and is great for news information.
Twitter is also good for "Retweet", you can write a post, than people that follow you will turn around and post it to their Twitter followers. It's faster than a blog and can go beyond just blogs to reach more people.
Other good things about Twitter include:
Your chance to expand network
-its not stalking, its observing
-powerful traffic source
-instant feedback
-free!
-Limited only by your creativity

Viral Marketing On Steroids...
Videos, pictues, and conversation...sounds like the perfect buzz combination to me. The interest, traffic, and contacts you can make through these methods are mindboggling. Viral marketing on steroids. It truely is limited by your creativity.
