Net Payola: Paying For The Digg Front Page

Movie promoter seeks quick, cheap traffic grab
An advertisement appeared on a freelancing site, offering $250 in exchange for getting a couple of movie-related items to the front page of Digg.

The PBS debut of Prince Among Slaves happens on February 4th. Someone wants to make sure of an Internet buzz around the movie, which is narrated by Mos Def.

The going rate for that buzz seems pretty cheap. A post on Reddit linked an ad on GetAFreelancer, asking for a little social media love:

Please suggest a way to get enough Diggs (Maybe 250+ from different IP addresses), or another way (maybe contacting a Digg member who gets most of his stories Dugg to the front page)...

The method does NOT matter to us. What matters is that we see the story being placed in the front page... If this requirement is not met, we won't be able to pay...

Those behind the ad want two placements on Digg's front page, not just one. One for the trailer, another for a story about the movie.

The extra effort doesn't seem necessary, as the movie appears to stand on its merits. It tied for Best Documentary at the American Black Film Festival last year. In the cutthroat movie business, $250 isn't much to spend on an extra promotional edge.

I've only seen one website

I've only seen one website http://Diggfront.com Offer front page placement, and they seem to be more of a performance based consulting service than a Buy your way to the top. I don't think someone from Get-a-freelancer has the marketing talent to achieve that.
