YouTube Community Council Provides Update

Post to Twitter Post to Facebook

Some things done, others on the way

When the YouTube Community Council was formed, there were critics; onlookers thought it might represent a pointless PR maneuver.  YouTube is now reporting on the Community Council project, though, and it looks like a lot's been accomplished.

Granted, there's still much more on the "to-do" list than in the "done" column.  An entry on the YouTube Blog reveals that "RSS LINKS ON VIDEO BROWSE PAGES," "'MOST ACTIVE TODAY' & 'PREVIOUSLY POPULAR' VIDEO SEARCH," and "SUBSCRIPTIONS UPDATE" are the only features that have been added so far.

"CHARACTER COUNT" and "RECENT COMMENTS" remain in the "coming soon" category, and then there are nine more things on which YouTube either wants more comments or is at some stage of addressing.

Again, the balance isn't great, but the update still stands as evidence that the Community Council is achieving some things.  And this particular Community Council still has about three and a half months left in power, since a six-month rotation period has been established.

Ideas for additional updates should be sent to suggestions@youtube.com, and the "Comments" section following the YouTube Blog post also seems to be a popular place.
