Should we be worried that Google's corporate culture will become all stiff and tie-loving now that the company's gone to D.C.? Well, the short answer appears to be "no." A recent party at Google's Washington office was apparently sophisticated, and yet still about as Google-y as you can get.
"The event, the swankiest 'office' party Washington has seen in years, included test tubes filled with vodka and cranberry juice (nicknamed YouTubes), copious snacks - from coconut shrimp to mini-burgers to miniature ice-cream cones - and an open bar complete with glowing Google-themed glasses," reported Garrett M. Graf.
"A game room, including foosball and Guitar Hero, entertained guests while a giant Lite-Brite-like wall in the main room gave the party a clublike atmosphere," he later continued.
Fun, and yet not cheap - that's Google for you. That's Google for everyone, actually, as it seems like people from many walks of life ("Capitol Hill staffers, lobbyists, techies, and media folks") were invited to the party. One Google mainstay - a pet dog(s) - was missing, but we can understand why.
Otherwise, it's nice to see that Google is sticking to its roots - cost and silliness aside, what works, works.
