Yahoo News Will Receive Local Clips From Belo

"Hey, I know him!"

Among the many, many things in this world that are annoying, one of them is a "local" site that's out of touch with the community.  And Yahoo seemingly doesn't want its sites to suffer from this problem, so as a result, it's arranged to receive clips of local coverage from Belo.

You still may not find video of whatever church fundraiser is occurring down the street - only 13 of Belo's 20 stations are involved.  But people living in or near Portland, Seattle/Tacoma, Hampton/Norfolk, Spokane, St. Louis, Charlotte, Louisville, Phoenix, Tucson, Austin, Houston, San Antonio, and New Orleans should benefit.Yahoo News Will Receive Local Clips From Belo

"For many consumers visiting Yahoo! News, there's nothing more relevant than local updates," noted Alan Warms, the vice president and general manager of Yahoo News, in a statement.  "The addition of local news video from 13 new markets is a huge win for the people who have made Yahoo! News the number one news site on the Internet."

It's not bad for Yahoo, either, as it struggles against Google and the entire downward trend of the American economy.  Belo's presumably not been left out in the cold, either, but any financial terms relating to the deal remain undisclosed.
