National Lampoon Buys CollegeHangover.com

Acquisition An Effort To Build Online Audience

National Lampoon has purchased user-generated Web site CollegeHangover.com, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

CollegeHangover

CollegeHangover launched in 2005 and allows users to browse and contribute to galleries of user-submitted photos and videos. The site is moderated by college student editors, who post their own original photos and videos.

CollegeHangover previously had been a member of National Lampoon's Drunk University Network of sites. The network of sites are the most trafficked humor Web sites on the Internet, with over 6 million unique visitors and according to Comscore, more than 100 million monthly page views.

National Lampoon chief executive officer Daniel Laikin said the acquisition was part of its expanding digital strategy to aggressively build its online audience by transactions and through the launch of new Web sites.

"CollegeHangover has been a strong partner in our Drunk University Network, and we have enjoyed working with founder Chad Huntley," said Laikin. "Its content has been very popular with National Lampoon's college age fans, and we are excited to expand our relationship with the site."
