What would it be like to play alongside Dave Grohl, who was part of one of the most potent power trios in rock history? Someone gets to find out in a month.
CBS and YouTube announced today the opening of the My Grammy Moment contest. They are looking for an unsigned musician to appear onstage with the Foo Fighters on February 10th. Eligible musicians should upload a 60-second video of their performance of part of the Foos' song, 'The Pretender'.
Unfortunately for guitar heroes and drumming gods, only musicians playing one of a given selection of brass, woodwind, or string instruments can try for the contest. Bass players have a shot if they can play double bass; no Rickenbackers or Fenders, sadly.
People can enter until January 20th. After that, judges will pick the 45 best performances. Public voting will trim that list to up to 20 performers to back the Foo Fighters in an orchestra, with one of those musicians voted to be the featured performer on Grammy Night.
The contest should give some deserving performers a great opportunity to get in front of a unique audience for a memorable performance. To whoever wins, rock on!
