Hammer Films Makes a Comeback (Via MySpace)

Beyond The Rave to premiere on social network
After a 30-year absence, Gothic horror film maker Hammer Films is about to make a comeback, not in cinemas but on the web.

Who can forget Hammer’s iconic low-budget horror flicks from the 60s and 70s, especially those starring Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing?

BrandRepublic reports that Hammer has produced a new film, Beyond The Rave, that will be shown only on MySpace:

[…] ‘Beyond the Rave’ is MySpaceTV’s first UK co-production and will broadcast in spring 2008 as 20 "webisodes", before being released as a full length DVD, and being available for download.

[…] The film promises to deliver all the ingredients of a Hammer classic, including vampires, blood, death and suspense, but made for a 21st century audience.

I imagine "made for a 21st century audience" will mean lots of in-your-face horror stuff that would have been X-rated 30 years ago but today would hardly merit a 15 classification if it were released in cinemas.

Plus computerized special effects that you couldn’t do 30 years ago.

The teaser trailer gives a bit of a clue.

Can’t wait to see it :)

Incidentally, Hammer Films has a presence on three of the most popular social networks - MySpace, Bebo and Facebook.

No question that you go where your audiences are.
