At the top of every page on the AGLOCO site are the bold words “Own the Internet.” AGLOCO isn’t in a position to own anything, however, as news spreads that the company is shutting down.
AGLOCO attempted to pay its users to watch ads, and, in what many onlookers have described as a pyramid scheme, gave out bonuses when they brought in fresh blood. But an email that found its way to Duncan Riley admitted, “We continue to believe in the AGLOCO concept, but our revenue is currently not sufficient to give Members a meaningful distribution.”
It later continued, “As a development team we are unable to continue to use our savings to fund the operations. If any Member would like to pursue continuing the operations of AGLOCO, you may contact us at [_______]@live.com .”
In fairness, we’ll point out that David Lawrence soon showed up to assert, “That was the blog of an independent Agloco member.” Lawrence didn’t contest any of the basic facts, though, and this all looks pretty bad, regardless.
Should AGLOCO ever resurface - it was already the reincarnation of AllAdvantage - we’d at least encourage the owners to pick a name that’s not all in caps.
