Time Warner's sites including AOL saw a teensy drop in US search market share in October as well. Guess who gained?
Nope, not Ask.com. They managed to hold serve from September to October, their 4.7 percent of search share slightly above Time Warner's 4.2 percent.
That leaves Google, atop the search world again, at 58.5 percent of searches according to comScore qSearch 2.0. Yahoo dropped to 22.9 percent, while MSN/Live Search fell out of double digits to 9.7 percent,
These Core Search figures include partner and cross-channel searches, according to comScore. "Searches for mapping, local directory, and user-generated video sites that are not on the core domain of the five search engines are not included in the core search numbers," the firm said.
In October 2007, US searchers made 10.5 billion core searches at the engines. Google picked up over 6.1 billion of those, followed by Yahoo's 2.4 billion. All of the top five search engines gained in core search queries for the month.

Yes, that`s true. 58.5 percent out of 10.5 billion is equal to 6.1 billion for Google. The same for Yahoo 22.9 percent out of 10.5 billion is equal to 2.4 billion, not million. Just an usual typing mistake.

Thanks for the info. This is the first place that I have read October's figures. I think that you meant "billion" when you referenced Yahoo's totals, not "million." Google's dominance in this field never ceases to amaze me. I hope that a competitor can mount a credible opposition to Google's growing hegemony.
