Microsoft announced it will purchase software, intellectual property and other assets from Global Care Solutions, a health information systems developer. GCS collaborated with Bumrungrad International on the system, which manages over 1.2 million patients annually.
GCS has a long history of Microsoft products in its platform. Both Windows Server 2003 and SQL Server 2005 were name-checked as the underpinnings of their system, likely adding to their appeal to Microsoft's corporate M&A executives.
"The GCS solution has allowed us to manage scheduling demands, multiple languages and medical records so efficiently that the average waiting time to see a doctor is only 17 minutes," said Mack Banner, the CEO of the hospital.
We think that's a selling point Microsoft will use with HealthVault as they work on expanding the service.
