CareerBuilder is expanding its popular Monk-e-Mail to mobile phones. Over 100 million Monk-e-mails have been sent since its launch in 2006.
Monk-e-mail allows users to create and send audio messages delivered by animated monkeys. The idea originated from CareerBuilder's "Working with Monkeys" TV campaign which launched during the 2005 Super bowl. Since moving on to the Internet the application has been used to send 110 million messages. CareerBuilder hopes it's as successful in the mobile arena.
"I don't think we ever thought Monk-e-Mail would explode the way it did online," Cynthia McIntyre, senior director of advertising at CareerBuilder told MediaPost. "So it made sense to take it to the third screen, which is mobile."
McIntyre says that the Monk-e-Mails have helped CareerBulider to build brand awareness and has improved sales.
"We get stories from our sales force about people using Monk-e-Mail to get a foot in the door with clients they couldn't get appointments with before," says McIntyre.
