Online Gaming Audience Booming

The online gaming audience has seen a significant increase in the past year as people are increasingly looking for cheaper entertainment alternatives, driven partly by the economy, according to a new report from comScore.
The category attracted 87 million U.S. visitors in May 2009, up 22 percent compared to a year ago.
Bing is Taking Feature Requests

Microsoft wants you to like Bing. If the company ever hopes to lure a significant enough amount of people away from Google, it has to deliver on user experience. For the most part the public's response to Bing in this area has so far been relatively positive.
Bing has set up a discussion page on Facebook where fans can request features they would like to see added to Bing. Here is a sampling of some of the requests made so far:

On a temporary basis, at least, it looks like the Bing team racked up another win this week. New data indicates that Microsoft's search engine passed Yahoo's in terms of market share, and did so by a significant amount.

Microsoft Puts Out New Version of Silverlight

Microsoft has launched Silverlight 3 and Expression 3 today. Silverlight is a browser plug-in that enables companies to design, develop, and deliver web apps. Expression is a set of design tools and technologies.
The new Silverlight release in particular is big news. Over 1/3 of Internet devices have installed version 2 since its launch less than nine months ago.
Microsoft also announced that MGM and NBC Sports are using Silverlight for different forthcoming video efforts.

Google is now showing images in universal search results for location queries. They have shown maps for some time, but the addition of images enriches the results that much more.

This session essentially consists of a panel of established industry experts fielding questions from the crowd of conference attendees. Yesterday, we reported that nine companies had partnered with Google to help develop Google Chrome OS. This article may be a little short on names by comparison, but it seems important to note that Intel, the chipmaker with a market cap of about $90 billion, is also on the team.
