"The premise behind FansPoll.com is similar to the premise of American Idol or the People's Choice Awards," says George Brown, President and founder of FansPoll L.L.C. "Engage the fans, empower them and give them a turn to choose."

FansPoll includes 119 individual team Web pages, one for each Division I school. When users log in they can go to their favorite teams page and vote in the weekly FanPick contest by choosing winners of pre-selected games. FansPoll keeps track of the scores and at the end of the season the fan with the most correct selections can be on the Fanspoll Selection Committee, which chooses the National Champion.

Other awards include Coach of the Year, Quarterback of the Year, and Newcomer of the Year.

"It's the football fans' version of an Electoral College," says Brown."Since football is the only sport that doesn't choose their National Champion on the playing field, we thought a qualified fan representative from each school might be the next best thing."
