YouTube Phone To Have Good Camera, Bad Name

There’s fresh news about the YouTube phone, and I’ve got to admit, it sounds pretty cool.  Everything but the name, anyway: “Viewty”?  But the LG KU990, as it’s also known, should have a lot of interesting features.

It “comes in a glossy black casing and features a large display,” according to a CNET article.  “The touchscreen interface produces small vibrations that make it easier to sense when you’ve touched it, a system that Motorola also uses in its Motorola Razr 2 V8, and one we think works really well.”

Furthermore, “[t]he 5-megapixel camera on the back comes with a Schneider Kreuznach lens, autofocus and manual focus, image stabilisation and LED photo light, but more interestingly - or curiously - it can shoot video at up to 120 frames per second.  The reason we’re curious about the high frame rate is because it’s about four times higher than a standard camcorder and is usually intended for viewing videos in slow motion or shooting fast-moving action footage.”

So prepare for many, many super slo-mo YouTube videos of guys getting hit in the crotch.

Oh, well - can’t blame YouTube and LG for what people do with their products.  There’s still no word on how much it’ll cost people to buy this particular product, by the way, or when the KU990 will come to the U.S., but The Korea Times reports, “The new phone will go on sale in Europe from October.”
