Blinkx Hires Several New Execs

Google probably hires around 40 people on a daily basis; it almost certainly achieves that every week.  Not every company’s worth $160 billion, however, and so it’s significant that Blinkx, which has a much smaller budget, has added a few employees and raised its overall headcount to 40.

The new hires aren’t just secretaries or rank-and-file soldiers, either.  Not that there’s anything wrong with the people filling those positions, of course, but “seasoned executives” such as the ones Blinkx has attracted may be a little more newsworthy.  Blinkx certainly seemed to think they’re press release-worthy.

According to the release, “John Bryan was previously at MediaZone.com and will be pursuing large content acquisition deals in the United States.  Based in London, Marco Nadotti joins blinkx from Babelgum and will be responsible for signing media partnerships across Europe.”  And “blinkx is also announcing the appointment of Gavin Morgan to drive its syndication strategy in Europe.  Gavin joins blinkx from Miva and was previously group head of media at JCDecaux.”

But that’s not all.  “In addition, blinkx has appointed Onil Gunawardana to direct strategy and development for its new contextual video advertising platform, AdHoc.  Most recently, Onil was COO and VP of products at Searchforce, a Search Engine Marketing platform for centralizing and optimizing pay-per-click advertising campaigns.  Previously, he also managed marketing and analytics products at Siebel.”

Blinkx has recently been the subject of several deals and a lot of growth; these new execs should both help manage that and spur on new developments.
