The new tool allows travelers to sift through reviews to find information in a wide number of categories that include, families, couples, with young kids, with teens, mature travelers, solo women, group of friends, with disabilities, with pets, other vacationers and business travelers.
Travelocity's new hotel reviews include a screening process for all reviews based on traveler's interests and needs. User's create a customized profile and give feedback on what is important to them when they travel. For example people with young kids can provide comments on hotels that are child friendly.
"With this launch, we have taken user-generated content to another level," said Noreen Henry, vice president of hotels and packaging for Travelocity. "Travelers do not have to scour the Web anymore for credible, relevant opinions - our new hotel reviews meet those needs."
Travelocity has also added to the review tool 16 categories on amenities and services that allows user to leave comments on local cuisine, events and activities.
"Paired with Travelocity's vast global hotel content, our revamped hotel traveler reviews allow travelers to find the right hotel for their needs and gather insight from travelers just like them," Henry said.

I use these reviews before
I use these reviews before booking hotels and I find it very useful.
Of course, I browse at least 3-4 websites before I book a hotel. So, more reviews will only help the customers.
It's not following, just complimenting.
To the below commenter, it's nice to know that Orbitz thought of this first. As long as Travelocity does not claim to have brought the idea about, I see it as just a compliment. I think it's good that these travel services are giving customers more options. Also, the more competition the better...
Following Orbitz' lead...again
Nice to see the competition following our lead. We always say, imitation is the finest form of flattery.
Orbitz launched its authentic and sortable customer hotel reviews in June 2006 to mark our 5th anniversary....yes, that is over a year ago.

Travelers can take advantage of the first-hand knowledge of thousands of authentic hotel customer reviews solicited only from Orbitz customers who have actually booked and stayed at the hotel. Making Orbitz hotel searches even more relevant for the customer, these reviews can be sorted based on the type of traveler to find the right hotel that fits travelers' specific needs: business travelers, leisure vacationers, couples and families. Orbitz also enables customers to score the hotel, a rating between 1-5 for easy referencing.
In addition to customer scores and reviews, travelers can read commentary from Frommer's, one of the most trusted names in travel today, offering a discerning expert opinion on thousands of hotel properties.
Just want to keep the record straight.
