Yahoo Seals Deal With Major Real Estate Firm

Brands that fall under Realogy Corporation’s umbrella will now be able to list their properties on Yahoo Real Estate, and I know that this news has caused rather few of you to jump out of your chairs or shout in surprise.  It’s a pretty big deal, however - Realogy’s “residential brands” include Century 21, Coldwell Banker, ERA, and Sotheby’s International Realty.

Michael Yang, Yahoo Real Estate’s vice president and general manager, puts it this way in a press release: “In working with Realogy, Yahoo! Real Estate is collaborating with the largest real estate franchisor as it takes a leading role in interactive marketing.”

To quickly outline the benefits, the deal should bring more listings, more would-be buyers, and more professionals to the Yahoo Real Estate site.

Yet the transaction isn’t entirely one-sided; Yang goes on to say, “We will provide Realogy with access to proven online advertising and marketing solutions, such as display media, search marketing, property and agent listings, and video distribution across the Yahoo! network.”  And even if Yahoo’s no Google, it’s still, well, Yahoo.

Which leaves us wondering when we’ll see the fulfillment of this deal - the only clue dropped by either company is the word “soon.”  But assuming they’re both as enthusiastic about it as they seem to be, that might be interpreted as just a matter of days or weeks.
