Discovery Communications is putting some of its full-length episodes of series and specials online.
Starting tomorrow Discovery will offer the premiere episode of Animal Planet's Meerkat Manor on the Animal Planet Web site a week before it will air on the network. Day after episodes of Discovery Channel's Dirty Jobs and The Learning Channel's LA Ink will be available online starting Wednesday, August 8.
Discovery Communications will use a broadband video player from Move Networks, called Move Player. The player works on Microsoft Windows Vista and Apple OS X.
"We are excited that Discovery has chosen our publishing platform, and we look forward to helping Discovery provide its customers and advertisers with the best possible viewing experience," said John Edwards, CEO of Move Networks.
The online programs will be ad supported and free to viewers.
"We are pleased to have Move Networks' publishing platform for this initiative," said Bruce Campbell, president, Digital Media and Business Development, Discovery Communications.
"By providing viewers with a top quality online player, we can draw new audiences to our networks and build more opportunities for our advertisers."
