Dailymotion, an independent video sharing site has launched a U.S. version of their site. The U.S. site launches with the MotionMaker program that identifies and rewards contributors to the Dailymotion community.
Dailymotion says they have monetization strategies for content partners and the site itself. The monetization programs for content partners include banner and in-video advertising, which will allow advertisers to reach users at a local level. Advertisers can reach online users by using contextual in-stream ads and niche behavioral targeting through channels.
Dailymotion also announced that Catherine Mullen, former General manager of MTV UK and Ireland would be heading the international content acquisition and development initiatives. Joy Marcus, former senior vice president of global marketing at Time Warner, will be handling Dailymotion's U.S. expansion, the sites biggest market outside of France.
In April the site had 4.7 million video streams in the U.S. according to comScore.
"Dailymotion's mission is to create an online video entertainment and distribution company that will bring substantial revenues to content owners while still protecting the rights of creators," said Benjamin Bejbaum, Co-founder and CEO of Dailymotion.
"At the same time, we will be taking the lead in nurturing an independent online creative community through our Motionmaker Program. We welcome the online community to join the creative revolution with us."
