AOL To Feature UKTV Clips

UKTV and AOL have entered into a content syndication deal that will provide broadcast lifestyle content to AOL. UKTV will offer 70 video clips from some of its most popular shows On UKTV Style such as Our House and Our Home, and UKTV Food.

UKTV's Commercial manager of New Media, Amber Coley, and AOL's Director of Content Acquistion, Niall McOnegal completed the deal.

UKTV's Coley says, "This is the biggest online video content deal we've ever signed both in terms of volume and potential reach to new audiences via one of Britain's biggest portals. We're thrilled to have developed what was an ongoing contra-based relationship with AOL into a commercial one."

The UKTV 70 clips, which range in length from three to five minutes can be viewed at AOL Show Me or on the Homes and Property section. Show Me is a new place on AOL that offers instructional how-to guides and videos for users to learn how to do things. The content covers gardening, arts and crafts. Some of the content includes how to fix a leaky radiator, adding a water feature to your garden and making your own cushions. There also are 40 recipe clips, which teach user how to make dishes such as Classic Chicken and Mushroom pie and Thai Beef Salad.

AOL's Niall McOnegal, comments, "UKTV's range of lifestyle clips featuring well-known personalities and great instructional tips fit perfectly into our new 'how-to' proposition called Show Me. Show Me provides our online audience with 'useful' video content that solves problems, informs and entertains. We have started the ball rolling with a range of licensed and commissioned content and hope that users will add their own unique know-how to create a great destination for helpful advice and entertaining 'tips'."
