PureVideo Adds New Features

PureVideo, a video search destination has added several new features, including a custom video webpage, a downloadable toolbar and a new channel focused on educational research.

The company has also attracted a number of video companies who have selected PureVideo for content placement with the sites charts sections. The list includes AtomFilms, Brightcove, Grouper, Music Nation and Machinima.com. Media companies have held a favorable view of PureVideo because the search site directs users back to the original source for video viewing and avoids copyright issues by driving traffic to the content owner.

The custom video webpage is powered by Ajax and allows users to keep track of their favorite video sources and subjects. Users can choose feeds by media source or by keyword. The site offers a menu of feeds by channel and gives users the option to input their own feeds. The site has plans to support video related widgets in the coming months.

The PureVideo toolbar features shortcuts to video search, submit, and video feeds. The toolbar also offers shortcuts to users My.PureVideo, StupidVideos and GrindTV profile pages along with alerts on popular videos and announcements.

The new research channel will be added to existing channels, music, sports, comedy, entertainment and news. The channel will focus mainly on science and history but will eventually expand to include other subjects. Featured media feeds on the channel will be The History Channel, A&E, NASA Videos and Nova Videos. The company has plans to index all online university level video lectures from a number of institutions to be featured on their research channel.
