CBS SportsLine Relaunches

CBS SportsLine, an Internet sports media organization and part of CBS Interactive has launched its redesigned Community homepage, providing registered users with more ways to contribute to the site and interact with other members.

The redesigned community enables members to create a "reputation" on the site by contributing to message boards, connecting with other users, taking part in fantasy games and by the overall frequency of their behavior.

Registered users will have access to their own profile page, which they can personalize with an avatar or logo and begin the process of creating a reputation within the CBS SportsLine community.

Members begin as "Amateurs" and through their activity can progress to "Rookie", "Pro", "All-Star" and the top tier of "Superstar". Superstar members represent the top 5 percent of users and are entitled to additional rights and privileges on the site.

For the start of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball tournament, Superstar members will be able to cover the games of their choice and have their work read by other users.

Superstar members will use the CBS SportsLine Glog to cover March Madness. Glog is short for "game log" and is live text commentary of the game at hand. The goal of Glogs is to bring the bleacher experience to the Web.

"You'd be hard-pressed to find more popular or energetic conversations than those around sports and Fantasy sports," said Bill Binenstock, Vice President of Consumer Products for CBS SportsLine. "With the CBS SportsLine Reputation System, the community itself decides what is the topic of the day, who has the facts straight and which community member's opinion matters. It's the democratization of publishing."
