If they haven’t done it already, the PR reps at Etelos are probably writing a thank-you letter to Google. Their company’s latest product, dubbed CRMforGoogle, is a “fully integrated customer relationship management application that is integrated into Google’s business software platform.”
CRMforGoogle is an invitation-only beta version at the moment, but it’s already getting a lot of attention (as CRM products go); attaching Google’s name to something is a good way to raise its profile, after all. And according to an Etelos spokesman who talked to Computerworld, “the company’s CRM application is the first tweaked specifically to work with Google.”
The new product doesn’t rely too heavily on the search engine giant, however; it is built upon older versions. Danny Kolke, Etelos’s president and CEO, believes that it’s adaptable enough to work for just about anyone. “We feel that this will enable any size business to effectively and easily implement a CRM solution that fits its needs,” he said in a statement.
“With CRMforGoogle, we’re letting users start from a place that’s very familiar to most of them,” Kolke added, as reported by David Needle of internetnews.com.
It’s great that most users will be able to make sense of CRMforGoogle; it’s also nice that most of them shouldn’t have a problem paying for it. I’ve gotten used to seeing software prices that run in the thousands of dollars, but several different editions of CRMforGoogle are available, and prices start at $25 per month per user.
Still, things aren’t perfect at Etelos. Google has no official ties to the product, and as Needle points out, may not smile upon the use of its name.
