As promised by Steve Mitgang promised earlier this week, the Yahoo Search Marketing Blog has launched. With a focus on Yahoo's new search advertising platform, it will, among other things, "include contributions from our executives and managers working on all the new products and features, from geo-targeting and analytics to customer service."
Michael Mattis, Yahoo's Blog Editor, described the blog launch with appropriately "golden prose." "If you're a serious publisher, you'll want to keep up on all the latest from Yahoo! Search Marketing via the blog," he wrote.
Steve Mitgang conveyed much the same thing in an interview with Jennifer Slegg, and again with a post on the blog itself, saying, "We'll connect you to the people and products that can help you make sense of the ever-changing world of digital marketing, and take advantage of everything that Yahoo! has to offer."
WebProNews contributor Lee Odden welcomed the "snappy" effort with open arms. "Congrats Yahoo on a long overdue blog for YSM! Well done on the social bookmark option for del.icio.us too!" Odden took particular note of Yahoo's "pledge to regularly respond to your comments and questions in an honest and direct way."
Eight of the nine comments following the official announcement were also positive - the ninth was a link to a story on the launch, which Search Engine Watch's Barry Schwartz covered, as well. Schwartz has been following this story from the get-go, for which he deserves a big hat tip.
Finally, to answer a question from the last WebProNews article on this subject, the Yahoo Search Marketing Blog does not appear to feature a sock monkey, or any other sock creature, as a mascot.
