Google Reaches of Online Europe

The top online properties in Europe don't exactly mirror the ones in the U.S., but the list is similar, with rearrangements, omissions and additions. comScore's list of European online hotness has names you'll find familiar: Google, Microsoft, Yahoo!, and in that order.

The report reveals traffic numbers collected in July from the total European Internet audience, age 15 and over, excluding traffic from public computers such as Internet cafes or from mobile phones and PDAs.

The list, according to unique visitors, runs this way: Google sites (156,334,000), Microsoft sites (144,065,00), Yahoo sites (99,464,000), eBay (86,201,000), Time Warner Network (59,475,000), Wikipedia sites (46,492,000), Amazon sites (40,098), Adobe sites (31,550,000), Ask Network (30,073,000), Vodafone Group (29,727,000).

Note the absence of MySpace and YouTube. Also note the European reach Google has after signing deals with eBay and AOL, sweetening a bit the reach in the U.S. through a deal with MySpace.

"In addition to capturing the top spot in our European ranking of the number of site visitors, Google sites were visited by a greater proportion of the online population in Europe (75 percent) than in the U.S. (60 percent)" said Bob Ivins, managing director of comScore Europe.
