Memeorandum Expands To Cover Gossip

Readers of Memeorandum's political and technical blog news aggregators now have a third option for their viewing pleasure - the gleeful gossip grabber WeSmirch.com.

Gabe Rivera has a sense of humor. In announcing the debut of WeSmirch, he single-handedly saves the world from an attention crisis:

I get a lot of emails, and many read like so:

Hey Gabe! Like the site but still don't know what to do with all my free time. It's like I have an infinite reserve of attention. Please help me somehow overcome this information underload problem!!!

Sincerely,

[totally real reader's name redacted]

Isn't the answer clear? A blog-fueled automated news site tracking the various triumphs and milestones in the lives of TomKat, Branjolina, and the rest of our cultural torchbearers in showbiz.

It's called WeSmirch and can be found at http://www.wesmirch.com/. Why WeSmirch? First, smirch is a perfectly good verb. And second, because celebritygossip.memeorandum.com is just too awesome a name for the world to handle at this time.
Dubbed the "Automatic Dirt Digger," WeSmirch delves into the seamier side of celebrity life. Which, naturally, has a readership that dwarfs issues like politics and technology.

At press time, the newly launched WeSmirch has as its top story the news that Isaac Hayes, long-time voice of Chef on "South Park," has asked to be released from his contract with the series. It seems he has a problem with the show's take on religion, an odd contention after years of the show defaming virtually every religion in existence.

Maybe it's a coincidence that Hayes, an active Scientologist, asked for the release after the show skewered Scientology in a recent episode. Whatever the case, it looks like Rivera and WeSmirch will have the updates.
