Yahoo's work with Wikipedia takes another step with Yahoo Search; queries that return Wikipedia entries along with other search results will have additional direct links to Wikipedia resources.

Wikipedia has benefited from Yahoo's generosity over the past year. Jimmy Wales, president, Wikimedia Foundation, wrote at length about how Yahoo's no-strings donations of servers, hosting, and bandwidth have enabled the organization to continue its mission.

Almost a year later, Yahoo benefits from that work from within its search results. Thursday, Yahoo Search member and coffee aficionado Kalpana Ravinarayanan blogged about how Wikipedia entries will appear with more options in Yahoo Search results:

Now, as part of our larger effort to get people more answers in fewer clicks, when you see a Wikipedia result in Yahoo! Search, we'll also include a section of links directly to the main sections of the Wikipedia entry, so you can quickly get to the exact information you're looking for.
In a screenshot, Ravinarayanan showed how a search for coffee returns 'Coffee bean types' as a link within the result from Wikipedia on coffee. After considering the relative caffeine content of Robusta versus Arabica coffee, and that versus tea, Ravinarayanan noted that a glass of water might be the best option of all, healthwise.

(And really, everyone knows Arabica is far superior to Robusta, right?...)
