Google Calendar Guessing Renews

An early holiday present for Google fans may be ready to launch as several sources note the URL calendar.google.com has gone live, although it redirects to the main Google page at present.

Another service from Google could be ready to go. Loren Baker at Search Engine Journal posted a quick note about the calendar.google.com URL doing the home page redirect. That behavior has marked the launches of other Google services.

Also, the shadowy Data Docket Inc has registered gcalendar.com. Jason Lee Miller at WebProNews has reported on them before, and the Google Addiction blog wrote in September that gcalendar.com has been registered by them.

A visit to gcalendar.com at press time redirects to https://www.gcalendar.com:19638/webhost/rollout but quickly tosses a Cannot Find Server message back to the browser. Google searches for Google Calendar returns the calendar.google.com URL as the second result.

Providing a calendar would give Google another service to match Yahoo, and integrating it with the Google Desktop and Gmail looks very likely. Way back in February, Jeremy Zawodny posted a laundry list of desired features for Google Calendar, and it will be interesting to see how closely the Gcalendar matches that wish list.
