Google Launches Video Blog

A new blog focused on the various offerings within Google Video will present them by theme each week.

Google's Video Blog begins with a first post on Halloween. This week's theme will be documentaries, with sports to follow next week. Google product marketing manager Eva Ho posted the first entry:

Google Video is growing so fast that we think a blog is the best way to showcase some of the great videos that catch our attention. Each week we'll highlight a handful of videos that share a common theme. (Of course, we add videos daily to the [site]-- so check the blog often to see the latest masterpieces.)
One of the first videos featured is a 45 minute feature on Gypsy refugees in Belgrade who build vehicles out of old Citroen cars. Once converted, the Gypsies use the vehicles to collect recyclables, and recharge mobile phones and watch TV by drawing power from the car's batteries.

In the Google Blog, the search engine company acknowledged the contributions of various organizations to Google's video archive. UC Berkeley, the National Science Foundation, and Unicef all get mentions along with many more content creators. Everyday people can upload content to the video search too, as long as they respect copyrighted material.
