Sun Microsystems made a one-sentence announcement today that has already produced giant vibrations on Wall Street and will likely produce fault-line like tremors throughout the tech world. The announcement: they're teaming up with Google for something to be announced tomorrow-one sentence that no doubt shook building foundations in Redmond.

"Please join Scott McNealy, Sun Microsystems Chairman and CEO and Dr. Eric Schmidt, Google Chairman of the Executive Committee and CEO as they discuss a new collaborative effort between the two companies," reads the website.

The details of the collaborative effort will be announced Tuesday via Webcast from the Computer History Museum in Google's hometown, Mountain View, California.

The Stree.com's Ronna Abramson reports that news of unknown joint venture between the two tech giants (two of Microsoft's biggest headaches) caused shares of Sun shoot up 7.3 percent, with Google shares up 0.5 percent.

The news shortly follows a Saturday weblog entry by Sun president Jonathan Schwartz discussing the future of web-based applications, open source programming, and the intricacies of software distribution.

Schwartz also went on at length about Microsoft's rise to power by simplifying software distribution and the challenges the software giant will face in the future with open source and server-based applications.

The news has driven immense industry speculation as to what exactly will be announced tomorrow, but some believe this could be the biggest tech story of the year, and may prove TheStreet.com's Jim Cramer right when he said, "Google is the most exciting company in the universe."
