Blog Movie Critics: The Blogosphere Is Closed

Another sign blogs are moving into the mainstream media industry popped up in the form of movie critiques. Townhall.com arranged to have bloggers added to the press lists for advanced screenings of the science fiction film Serenity.

In a great sign of confidence in the blogosphere, Townhall.com arranged for these press passes in dozens of cities around the country from Miami to Seattle.

The statement on their website said interested parties should get registered by 5:00 p.m. EDT one business day before the screening. That wasn't a problem. They posted fairly quickly that all screenings were fully booked.

All the screenings were taking place on September 26th-29th, depending on the location, in time for the September 30th premiere of the film.

The reality of the situation for bloggers is improving. This shows that blogger impact is growing and shows promise. Deep down though, this is a great dream for geeks everywhere. You get a free pass to a sci-fi film and then get to go tell everyone about it via the computer and actually be taken seriously.

If you missed this shot though, don't despair. They did say other opportunities would present themselves.
