PSP Upgrade Includes New Web Browser, Enhanced Security

The new Firmware 2.0 upgrade for Sony's PSP system has some interesting new features such as a new integrated web browser, and increased Wi-Fi security.

The upgrade will allow users to wirelessly search the Internet from Internet Access Points or "hot spots". It also includes new personalization tools, photo sharing and expanded video and audio playback options.

To download the firmware 2.0 upgrade, a user can either use a Wi-Fi connection to download it directly to the system, or they can download it on a PC and transfer it via USB cable.

"The Internet browser and other added functionality of the firmware 2.0 upgrade will further enhance the user experience beyond the unprecedented portable to entertainment already provided by PSP," said Sony Computer Entertainment America executive vice president Andrew House.

"By allowing consumers to wirelessly surf the Web, personalize their PSP and access and share new audio, video and image formats, PSP continues to evolve the entertainment experience out of the home and reaffirm its position as the must-have product of the year."

For further details on the Firmware 2.0 upgrade, check out Sony's press release, which lists new video, audio, and image features as well as additional ones.
