Getting Fired In Style

Post to Twitter Post to Facebook

It's not really clear how this website plans to verify the tales submitted, but SimplyFired.com is running a contest for those with the best career-ending moments. The most jaw-dropping entries could find themselves on a luxury cruise accompanied by Donald Trump's "Apprentice" rejects.

The site is a promtional off-shoot of the recently launched meta-job-search engine site SimplyHired.com. The contest is being judged by a panel headed by Internet folk hero and founder of the legendary F***edCompany.com, Phil "Pud" Kaplan.

Kaplan's site, which boomed in popularity after the dot com bust, inspired the site's development, SimplyHired's marketing manager, Kay Luo told the Associated Press.

Google's famous employee blogger turned company casualty, Mark Jen, headlined in Monday's launch of the SimplyFired.

Currently, in my opinion, the best story involves a vacationing employee getting fired for a conference call phone sex prank. To quote Smokey from the movie, "Friday," "How you gonna get fired on your day off?"

Another amusing missive relays the story about running over the boss' foot with a 1974 gutted-out green Gremlin "company car."

It's pretty good for a laugh and if you have your own raucous sack story, you could find yourself sipping champagne with Omarosa.
