Looks like billionaire Mark Cuban and the folks at IceRocket have been paying attention to the Technorati debacle. They're exchanging one odd name for anotherIceRocket will soon become BlogScour.
The goal of the upcoming relaunch will be to provide a Technorati-like function. According to CNET, BlogScour will search for the latest postings across the blogosphere and return a list of results. IceRocket currently offers a blog search component as a part of its overall search functionality, but does this mean it will no longer retain its other Google-like features?
IceRocket also has a blog trends component that's well, uh, "BlogPulse-like." I'm guessing that will be retained. I'm also guessing by now you've noticed that everything on IceRocket is "like" something else on other search sites.
So, what will set this one apart other than perhaps a combination of features offered separately on other engines. I'm hopeful things like a high degree of relevance in search returns and speedy indexing will take centerstage. I am of the opinion that, with Mark Cuban driving the development, BlogScour will be a kick-a** engine. However, had they asked me, I would suggested another name than BlogScour. That sounds like some type of household cleanser.
