Being a vertical search engine seems demanding. Not only do have the big guns to compete with, there are usually established resources that serve the target vertical already.
However, when you can acquire your competition, the path seems to get a little easier, just ask goWholesale.com, who just acquired the rights to Wholesale411, a competitor vertical search engine, giving goWholesale one of the largest advertising and search entities that serves the wholesale community.
The acquisition gives goWholesale an additional 1500-plus advertisers and 8000 more wholesale community members. According to Bill Angrick, CEO of Liquidity Services, Inc (parent company of goWholesale), "The acquisition of Wholesale411 will allow us to provide even more opportunities to advertisers, merchants and businesses of all sizes participating in the $2 trillion wholesale economy."
The combination of the two properties should give goWholesale over 3 million searches a month, which should help attract even more advertisers.
