The latest example of a loathsome hacker taking advantage of a news story to disperse a computer virus has been found in the wild.

The Trojan file, Troj/Spexta-A, affects Windows machines where users try to launch a purported video of the London bombing scenes.

This Trojan may attempt to send copies of itself in spam emails to addresses found in the user's local address book. It may also attempt to remotely connect to an external site and download code.

Examples of the Trojan have been found in email claiming to be from "CNN Newsletter" and having a subject line reading "TERROR HITS LONDON." An attached file called LondonTerrorMovie.zip contains the Trojan.

Although the virus has not been widely seen, users everywhere should continue to keep their antivirus packages up to date, and delete emails with attachments from unknown senders.
