Test Google's SMS Service Online

Have you ever wanted to see if Google's mobile-based SMS search service works but didn't want to pay carrier fees for text messages? Well, Google has heard your call.

Google has launched an SMS demo page that allows users to play with Google's text messaging search service. Users can submit queries, which have results returned to them through a mobile phone screen, also located on the demo page. The phone mock-up is there to give users an idea of how Google's SMS service works and what results will look like when they are received.

According to Google software engineer (and the SMS Demo developer) Maurice Sidi, through a post on the Google Blog, the Google SMS service has officially been brought out of the Google Labs and given the official Beta status.

If you are interested in seeing how Google SMS works, please visit the demo page for more.
