While many dissenters plan passive resistance of Israel's plans to dismantle settlements in Gaza and portions of the West Bank, others are taking on the military head-on.
Young Israelis holed themselves up in an abandoned hotel in southern Gaza, later to be dragged out kicking and screaming by the Israeli Army.

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has expressed a zero tolerance doctrine, promising to come down with an "iron fist on hooligans" who resort to violent resistance.
Meanwhile in the Gadid settlement, an Israeli farmer became the first to begin dismantling greenhouses in order to move to an area within Israeli borders.
Settlers who willingly move out of the area have been offered large compensation packages.
