Google Launches Enterprise Desktop Search - For Free

Google has released the Enterprise version of Google Desktop Search, and its surprisingly free. Surprising, perhaps, only to me, as I figured Google would charge for it.

It is now seeming that Google refuses to charge money for almost everything it does.

Anyway, the big difference between the consumer and enterprise editions is security. All data is encrypted, and can use the added protection of EFS (Encrypted File System). Security settings can be centrally managed through Microsoft Group Policy settings. In addition, it has a seperate tab added to your Google.com that lets you search your corporate intranet, but only if you have a Google Search Appliance.

It can be used by multiple users on a single shared workstation. Google is also offering premium support for $10,000 per 1,000 users. IT departments can easily deploy it over an entire network.
