Mobile Phone Roundup

Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, and Samsung have all released information on new upcoming mobile handsets.

Nokia and its Connection 2005 conference saw the announcement of seven new phone models. Two of those, arriving in the fourth quarter of 2005, will include music players. Those players support the iTunes music file format, AAC. The 6265 and 6270 will also be equipped with 2 megapixel cameras.

Sony Ericsson brings back an old name to a new phone. The W600 Walkman mobile phone will be Sony's second handset with the Walkman name. An included music player will support MP3 and AAC file formats. This phone will have a 1.3 megapixel camera on board.

Motorola made news in Chicago recently. Its support of the Chicago Cares Serve-a-thon saw about 150 of its employees join with other volunteers in a day of public works. The company gave away two of its new Razr V3 phones as part of its sponsorship of the event.

The company should follow up the successful Razr phone with two new models, the SLVR and the PEBL, by Christmas.

PCMag.com discussed an intriguing upcoming phone from Samsung. The SGH-D307 will be the world's first dual-fold phone. Depending on how it is opened, the phone will be either a standard flip phone with a long keypad, or a messaging device with a full keyboard.

The D307 and other new models from Samsung should arrive on the market later this summer.
