When they talk about convergence, I don't think this is what they mean, but convergence is exactly what it is. Sen. John Edwards, already a podcaster, has introduced a video blog-or vlog-that takes the form of an interview.

The interviewer? It's Amanda Congdon, the anchor at Rocketboom, the highly entertaining and addictive daily news vlog. Congdon opens the vlog with this bit of text:

When I learned that the Senator was interested in this medium I thought: what better a way for him to deliver his political message and communicate with people around the world. So, on the patio of his lovely home in Georgetown, John Edwards and I had a conversation.

Who needs Wolf Blitzer when public figures such as Edwards are willing to engage in conversations with real people like Amanda Congdon? This is an intriguing example of just where vblogging might be headed. In the meantime, most definitely keep your eye on Congdon, who could be the next big Internet celebrity.
