Another entrant to the digital music marketplace, MSN Music, begins a massive marketing blitz online.
The MSN Music store, a competitor to market leading iTunes, began a big promotion today. Running through July 10, users who buy one song through the service can get five free.
MSN Music's offer is a one-time reward. To use the service, users have to create a Passport account if they do not have one already. After that, purchasing one song places a credit for five free downloads on the account.
Songs cost as little as 99 cents each. But those free downloads have to be used by September 30th of this year.
In addition to advertising the promotion across its vast selection of web presences, the MSN Music promotion will be advertised on several other web sites: Billboard.com, Ticketmaster, CitySearch, AllMusic.com, LiveDaily, MP3.com, Vibe.com, and SonyMusic.
People in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and San Francisco will see various outdoor advertising. And MSN will push radio ads into its target markets as well.
