Google and IBM Come Together for Cloud Computing

Google and IBM began their alliance a couple of years ago in a rather unusual way. IBM CEO Sam Palmisano called up Google CEO Eric Schmidt and asked about distributed computing. Google wanted no part in the matter, but something apparently sparked its interest since the companies began a partnership at that time.

Actors And Studios In Dispute Over Online Clips

Negotiations between the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the major studios stalled last week after the two parties could not reach an agreement on how actors should be compensated for online clips.Studios want to distribute clips of old TV shows and movies without actors' permission and pay them a flat fee instead of paying each actor individually. The actors union is against the measure.

U.S. Internet users watched 11.5 billion online videos in March 2008, a 13 percent increase over February and a 64 percent boost over March of 2007 according to comScore Video Metrix.Google was again the top U.S. video property with more than 4.3 billion videos viewed (38% share of all videos) gaining 2.6 shares over the previous month. YouTube made up 98 percent of all videos viewed at Google Sites.
